Blackcomb Mountain – Whistler, BC

Alpine meadows on the Decker Loop trail

I hiked the Decker Loop trail up in Blackcomb Mountain and I have never seen alpine meadows in full bloom before. It is absolutely beautiful with all the bright splashes of colour and the view of the other mountains and glaciers ahead. It also smells amazing – the real deal floral freshness.
To get up Blackcomb Mountain we took the gondola up Whistler Mountain and then the Peak 2 Peak gondola took us across to Blackcomb. You do have to pay for a ticket (it’s cheaper with an Edge card which is what I used). I’ve only ever been to Whistler Blackcomb in the winter for snowboarding so to see it in the summer was a great experience.

I only had enough time to do the one loop up in Blackcomb which was the Decker Loop and it took about 3 hours return. The last gondola down on weekdays is 5.15pm so you definitely wouldn’t want to rush a hike up there. The views you get are amazing.
